OpenCourseWare Consortium

Opencourseware

OpenCourseWare is a free and open digital publication of high quality educational materials, organized as courses. The OpenCourseWare Consortium (OCWC) is a collaboration of more than 200 higher education institutions and associated organizations from around the world creating a broad and deep body of open educational content using a shared model. The mission of the OpenCourseWare Consortium is to advance education and empower people worldwide through OpenCourseWare—a mission clearly echoed by University of the People.

As a member of OCWC, UoPeople strengthens its commitment to advancing its current education system via the Internet. Traditional universities face rising tuitions partially because of the costs associated with the development of academic materials, including research and faculty salaries. However, the freedom to access such materials and adapt them to fit the needs of our students dramatically reduces our operating costs. In turn, UoPeople students can earn a high-quality college education, tuition-free.
