Carol Numrich
Senior Lecturer, Columbia University
Carol Numrich is Senior Lecturer at the American Language Program (ALP) Columbia University. She currently teaches intermediate-advanced level classes in the ALP’s intensive English program as well as English for Social Workers at Columbia’s Graduate School of Social Work. She is currently developing the curriculum for this program as well as designing Project-Based Language Learning (PBLL) courses for Columbia’s summer sessions.
Carol has traveled internationally to present at conferences, train and consult with language teachers. She has published several textbooks that are used as part of the curriculum at the American Language Program, Columbia as well as in many other university programs in the U.S. and abroad. Her textbook titles include: Consider the Issues, Face the Issues, Raise the Issues and Tuning In. In addition, she is the co-editor of the NorthStar series, which is now in its 5th edition.
Carol has administered several programs at Columbia: She served as Associate Director of Faculty Search, Development and Review from 2010-2016, coordinated the TESOL Certificate Program in 2006, served as Coordinator of the International Teaching Assistant Program from 1989-1993, and also directed the MA Program in TESOL at Teachers College from 1993-1996.
