Dr. Gabriel Hawawini is Emeritus Professor of Finance and former dean of INSEAD (2000-2006), one of the world’s leading and largest graduate business schools. He is currently Visiting Professor of Finance at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He received Honorary Doctorates from the University of Liège in Belgium, the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California, and the American University in Cairo.
Prior to joining INSEAD in 1982, Dr. Hawawini taught at New York University, Columbia University and the City University of New York where he received the “Presidential Award for Distinguished Faculty Scholarship” (1982). Other awards include:”French Legion of Honor” (2005), “The Chief Executive Leadership Award” from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (2006),”Fulbright Award for Global Business Education” (2004) and “Helen Kardon Moss Anvil Award for Excellence in Teaching” (1988).
Dr. Hawawini has authored 13 books, two online courses and over 70 research papers. His most recent textbook, Finance for Executives: Managing for Value Creation, has been translated into several languages. He is currently on the board of directors of Rémy Cointreau and the Advisory Board of Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar and the MIT Sloan School of Management,
Dr. Hawawini received his master’s in chemical engineering from the University of Toulouse (1972) and his doctorate in finance from New York University (1977).
